The story behind THE 100 CLUB

Serving Those Who Serve Us

The 100 Club of Rhode Island is a diverse group of nearly 1,000 Rhode Islanders united in their commitment to supporting the first responders who confront the daily dangers of their vital work. The club’s members span a wide range of professions – from secretaries and corporate executives to active-duty and retired first responders, as well as military personnel.

Our Mission

Our organization’s primary focus is to provide financial aid to families during their most difficult times. Additionally, we offer scholarships to support the children of first responders as they plan their futures. We also allocate financial assistance to local fire and police departments to fund their critical programs, services, and equipment.

In the Beginning

In 1952, Detroit auto dealer William Packer founded the first 100 Club after learning of a young patrolman’s death. Moved to help the patrolman’s young widow and unborn child, Packer reached out to 100 friends, soliciting their assistance. This initial act of compassion blossomed into the 100 Club, which has since expanded into a global organization boasting over 114 affiliates and millions of members worldwide.

In Rhode Island

Established in 1972 by local business leaders, the 100 Club of Rhode Island is a private charitable organization whose core purpose is to financially support the families of police, firefighters, and rescue workers killed in the line of duty. In addition to this critical assistance, the 100 Club also offers scholarships to eligible children of first responders and provides funding to local fire and police departments for special projects, services, and equipment.

Our Founders

The 100 Club of RI was founded by a group of dedicated individuals who believe in the idea of giving back.
